Lawnmower Wont Start -- Already tried the obvious

Lawnmower: Craftsman 21" 6.5HP Model: 944.362.520

I strongly believe i added bad fuel to my lawn mower -- the same fuel was added to my riding lawnmower & vehicle all of which stopped working at the aforementioned time. The moment information technology was added the lawnmower shut off and would not first upward.

The following are the steps i took to rectify the problem:

+ Removed the bad gas & added new gas
+ Changed the air filter (it was quite dirty)
+ Removed the carburetor bowl, emptied out the fluid and cleaned the bowl. Did non change any washers or gaskets.
+ Tested the Ignition Whorl: Used an Ignition Tester to encounter if the spark plug lead was delivering a charge: Aye
+ Checked the existing sparked plug for sparking: YES
+ Sprayed Quick Start spray into the hole of the air filter
+ Primed the lawnmower as instructed

After all of the above the lawnmower still refuses to start. I'd appreciate any other troubleshooting steps.

I recently had a similar problem - the primer seedling needed to be replaced.

Pump the seedling for a lot longer than you lot normally would, especially if you lot had emptied the gas and did all of these other things.
The manual I believe says 3 pumps. Endeavour fifteen-twenty.
Worked for me when I had a similar upshot.

Where did the fuel come from suggesting it was bad?

I would endeavor this first too, besides equally but go on cranking the motor. If you emptied the bowl, then you'll need to motion some fuel through ththe system beginning.

And if all that doesn't work, information technology's very possible that your jet got chock-full from the bad fuel.

As well, like somebody else asked, how exercise you go "bad" fuel these days???

In addition to priming more than than iii times.

Another thing you can effort... (Not sure the rationale) just try walking the mower a human foot or two and effort starting it again. I think people used to do this with cars like spring starting.

Last affair add together some Seafoam motor handling to that gas, it will help clean out the link in there.

Did you use carb cleaner to clean the carb? Those jets need to exist clear, also as the little pigsty that'due south in the spiral at the bottom of the carb. I besides suspect bad gas, I avoid non top-tier stations simply last autumn I needed some gas for one final mow and got lazy so I walked to my local mom and pop station.

Learned all this the hard manner 2 weeks agone when my thirty year old Craftsman mower began sputtering and then gas came dripping out through the air filter and wouldn't first, too contaminated the oil. In my case it was a case of one or more of the following, because this mower has had nothing simply oil and air filter changes in the terminal thirty years! - Dingy carb, stuck float, heavy carbon on the spark plug, and zero winterization/gas draining. etc.

If it wont fire up on Quick start and then you take a plug/ignition outcome.

If it fires on Quick start simply doesnt run you have a fuel/carb issue.

Divide and conquer, an alternating fuel source should always exist the first test. Note that if you've got a fuel/carb issue information technology'll simply run for a couple of seconds on a squirt of quick start.

More than probable your carb needs servicing/cleaning. Replace and gap the plug.
